How long can a US citizen stay in the UK?
If you have family or a relative living in the UK with either British Citizenship, settlement or asylum status then you may be able to apply for a Family of a Settled Person Visa. This entitles you to move to the UK for a period of six months or more. You can actually stay for up to 33 months, at which point you can then extend your visa.
Can a US citizen be taxed twice in the UK?
I.e. the US Government may allow a tax credit to reduce your US tax liability if tax has already been paid in the UK. However, if it is not carefully managed, it may still be possible to be taxed twice on the same income.

If your circumstances change. Contact HMRC if your circumstances change when you’re abroad – you move house or your marital status changes, for example. You’ll need your National Insurance number. You also need to tell HMRC if you come back to live in the UK.
